Tony Parkes has revealed that he got to the root of the Pedersen problem after a little chat in the Rovers car park after a match before christmas.

Morten is one of Blackburn’s most talented players but has underachieved for years in his usual left wing role.

But after a little chat with Mr.Blackburn and a change in position, Morten is back on the march again as he looks to recapture old form.

Parkes knows the Norwegian from when Morten first signed for the club in 2004 and cornered him (not like that) after a game and wanted a word (again not like that).

Parkes, speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph said – “I came to a game just before Christmas and it was sad because I hardly recognised him as the same player,”

“The crowd were booing him and getting on his back, which doesn`t help, but every decision he was making on the field was wrong. You could see he had lost all of his confidence.

“I saw him outside the ground after a home game a few weeks ago and had a word with him.

“I said to him, ‘You`re a shadow of the player you used to be, what`s wrong?` “He said it was down to confidence.

‘Under Mark Hughes he took all the corners and free kicks and he was really built up in terms of confidence.

“I asked him whether he was married yet. He said no and laughed, but sometimes being settled helps.

“I think moving to the centre of midfield has helped him because he is more involved in the game now.

“He`s still a talented lad with two good feet and that was a great ball for Martin Olsson`s goal against Hull.

“Tottenham were after him a couple of years ago so he must be a good player for them to have wanted him.

“I think he can get back to his best form with Blackburn.

“If he can get his confidence back and have a run in the team, because players do need a run of games, then I see no reason why he can`t do very well.”

Pedersen is considering his options at the moment as he is a free agent in the summer, but Parkes is backing Sam Allardyce by saying that Rovers is the right place for him.

Parkes continued – “I don`t know where he`s going to go if he doesn`t stay at Blackburn,”

“I don`t think there will be anywhere better for him than Blackburn, who are a Premier League club.

“And if he does want to go and get something somewhere else, then he needs to play well for the rest of the season for that to happen.’

Very interesting read and a look into the mind of one of our guys.
