A rather surprising name has made it’s way onto the Blackburn Rovers managerial applications list with news reaching us that Giovanni Trapattoni has applied for the managerial slot vacated by Steve Kean.

The Trap is currently the Republic of Ireland national manager but has put his name forward for the role, sources close to Vital Blackburn have been told.

Rovers have reportedly had over 20 managerial applicants including the likes of Alan Shearer, Paul Dickov and Peter Reid and word is that Shebby Singh and his team will be drawing up a list on Thursday to progress to the next stage of finding the new manager to take the club forward, which has become a shade more urgent since Bolton Wanderers are now picking from the same pool after the sacking of boss Owen Coyle this morning.

The search continues, but how would you feel about having ‘the Trap’ as the next Rovers boss?
