Blackburn have trialists with previous at the likes of Doncaster, Sheffield Wednesday, Crewe and French club Bastia at the moment and they’ve gone to Portugal with the squad for some warm weather training.

Dean Furman, who turned down the chance to stay with Doncaster after rejected a new contract, played in the two-nil win over Accrington on Saturday. In fact the 27-year-old South African captain scored our opening goal didn’t he.

Having failed to earn a new deal with Sheffield Wednesday 29-year-old Giles Coke, on loan with Bolton last season, has been given a chance by Gary Bowyer and he too played a part.

In fact all of them, with 23-year-old former French third tier man Sacha Petshi and 20-year-old former Crewe youngster Liam Nolan as well, played some part at the Crown Ground and the Lancashire Telegraph confirmed all four had been invited to our training camp as Bowyer looks to increase our midfielder options.

Obviously we’ll not sign all four of them, we might end up signing any of them, but you would expect something to come of these trials for at least one wouldn’t you!
