Having seen off Salzburg last week Blackburn Rovers tomorrow enter the draw to find out who they, along with the thirty-nine other successful teams to win in the first round of the UEFA Cup will face in the group stages.

Rovers could potentially come up against giants of European Football the likes of Celta Vigo, Paris St Germain, former European Cup runners up Bayer Leverkusen, former European Cup winners and Dutch giants Ajax or maybe even British counterparts Glasgow Rangers.

Two teams that Rovers definitely won’t face however will be Newcastle United or Tottenham Hotspur as you cannot be drawn against a team from the same country in the group stages.

The forty teams will be split into eight groups of five, with four matches being played by each team, two of which will be home and two of which will be away. There are five match day weeks pencilled in for:

Thursday 19th October
Thursday 2nd November
Thursday 23rd November
Thursday 30th November
Thursday 14th December

With five teams in a group there will be a week when each of the teams will obviously not play so not all of these dates will apply to Rovers after the draw, and the fixtures have been confirmed, only four of the dates will be relevant.

The top three from each group will advance to the next round where they will be joined by the eight teams eliminated the Champions League groups that finished in third place to make up the final 32 of the tournament.

The draw takes place at 11:00am tomorrow morning in Nyon, Switzerland being broadcast live on Eurosport should you be able, and indeed willing to view it.
