UEFA to Investigate Gamst

After having a beaker of beer thrown at him Blackburn Rovers Morten Gamst Pedersen declared he was unhappy but wouldn’t officially complain to UEFA.

The Norwegian had the beer thrown over him early in the UEFA Cup group E game with Feyenoord at the De Kuip. Shortly after he said:

It’s up to UEFA if they follow it up or not. I got beer in my face and had sticky eyes. It could have been worse but it should not happen.

But I am okay. There are no marks on me, just a bit of beer in my eyes.

Of course you think what might have happened if it was something else, like a hard thing, but it was just plastic.”

Gamst Pedersen is right, it could have been worse but thankfully it wasn’t. Throwing of any object at ANY footballer shouldn’t be happening! And this kind of thing has to stop.

Despite the player and Rovers playing down the incident UEFA have confirmed that they are investigating the matter, a UEFA spokesman said:

The matter was mentioned by the UEFA match delegate and a case has been opened. It will be investigated and is likely to be dealt with by the control and disciplinary panel on December 7.
