Rovers stand to profit to the tune of £2 million if Manchester United claim their 20th league crown.

One of the clauses in the sale of Phil Jones to United in the summer is that Rovers would receive £2 million if Jones helps United win the Premier League title and as things stand that does look a distinct possibility.

Rovers are already pocketing £100,000 per Jones international appearance on top of the £16.5 million transfer fee that it took to take Jones over to the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ (Still the most arrogant name for a stadium I’m aware of.)

The two sides meet head to head tonight in a massive clash for fortunes at both ends of the table and Jones should be in opposition for the contest with Rovers looking to bounce back from a very poor showing at Bolton last time out.

Even if we do get this end pay off I am not suggesting in the slightest that we’d throw the game, we’re only allowed to do that once a season and we used our go at Cardiff in the League Cup…
