New Rovers striker Luke Varney has proclaimed his delight at making the switch across the Pennines, after sealing a Friday move from Leeds United on an ’emergency’ loan deal.
Varney, who endured a difficult spell at Elland Road, has made the move to revitalise a career that has stalled, after a promising spell at Blackpool.
But after wrapping a move up to play under Gary Bowyer late last week, the striker wasn’t hiding his pleasure at being made to feel wanted again.
‘I’m delighted to be here, I’ve had a lot of conversations with the club and the manager and I am happy to get it over the line after a week of turmoil at Leeds,’ Varney told the official website.
‘I was just delighted to finally get the shirt on today. I’m really pleased to be here, I can put it all behind me now and I’m hoping to do it on the pitch for Blackburn.
‘I know a lot of the staff and that can only help. I felt wanted from the second that I walked into the building and that is really important.
‘Hopefully I can pay them back with some good performances.’
Hopefully Varney can step up and be a good cover player, his recent scoring record isn’t going to excite but hopefully our young manager can coax some joy out of him.
