Far from being dismayed by recent criticism it seems that the sting of rumour mongering has bought the Rao family out fighting.

Rovers co-owner Venkatesh Rao has today set the record straight with regards to Steve Kean and the clubs finances.

In short, Steve Kean is being backed as boss of Blackburn Rovers and the claims that Rovers haven’t got any money are complete rubbish.

Venkatesh tackled the Kean issue first…

Co-owner Venkatesh Rao told Sky Sports News: ‘We have been very happy with him. We were in relegation trouble, but we came out of it. That doesn’t help the rumours, but I want to reassure the fans that there is nothing like that happening. He is there for good.

‘We are very positive about him. I don’t know why these rumours come.’

Next up, it’s the issue of problems with finance and the transfer kitty.

Rao has also refuted those rumours, adding: ‘Money is not a problem, the problem is miscommunication and the rumours have led to this situation, for which I am very sorry.

‘We want to run it as a company, very systematically. On spending, we are very much meticulous and we want to do it positively.’

Steve Kean himself has also been happily chipping in with some pearls of wisdom after a series of meeting’s with the owners.

He said: ‘I had a meeting with some of the family last night and I’ve got another meeting today. We will be discussing people coming into the club.

‘I have got a great relationship with the owners and we are trying to get more people coming to the club and prevent anybody from leaving – it’s as simple as that.’

That’s that then.
