Rovers are being linked with an audacious summer bid for Roma’s hitman Mirko Vucinic as Venky’s continue their quest to try and shop from football’s top table.

He will be available reportedly for sums in the region of £20 million and Venky’s are apparently not put off by this price and want to raise Rovers profile by any means necessary.

The Daily Mirror are reporting – ‘Blackburn are planning an audacious £20million move for Roma striker Mirko Vucinic as they look for a marquee summer signing.

Rovers’ new Indian owners intend to splash their wealth in an attempt to raise the club`s profile, and there has been a change in strategy from their early days in charge at Ewood Park.

Back then, unlikely bids were tabled for Ronaldinho and David Beckham as they looked for a big name to bolster the club`s reputation.

In the summer though, Rovers are aiming to spend big on top-notch talent capable of pushing the club towards becoming a European force.

They believe Vucinic fits the bill with his proven goal-scoring ability and Champions League experience.

The striker only has two years left on his contract, which could allow Blackburn to pick him up for a reduced rate. Hoever, they will need to improve on his £70,000 a week wages to make the deal happen.

Vucinic has been eyed by Chelsea and Manchester United in the past, with Juventus also keen.

Roma will fight to keep the Montenegro international frontman at the club, but any failure by the Italians to land a European spot next term could open the door for Blackburn.’
