Rovers owners Venky’s have been quick of the mark in their own handling of the Gael Givet/Phil Black/Bung racket and will launch their own investigation into the matter.

Rovers made the front page of the newspapers yesterday morning with news filtering through that an illegal payment was made in the transfer of Givet from Marseille back in 2009.

But now the Rao family are to step up their own investigation into the dispute and want the issue resolved.

The important bit of the Sun’s investigation which doesn’t involve giving themselves a pat on the back reads – ‘Blackburn’s new owners have pledged their own internal investigation after The Sun’s shock revelations over the £3.5million signing of Gael Givet….

Now Blackburn’s new owners, the Venky’s, have reacted swiftly.

They have ordered an immediate inquiry into the club’s role in the Givet transfer – and all others carried out before they took over.

Already they fear they will uncover more examples of wrong-doing as they look more closely into the situation.

A short Venky’s statement in the Sun reads – ‘Venky’s are not surprised about the revelations in The Sun and would not be surprised if there are further revelations of wrong-doing prior to our purchase and ownership of the club.’

(Somewhere, out on Mercury, Vinjay has just creamed himself at that comment.)
