Ahead of the victory over Fleetwood on Saturday, Blackburn plundered the Fylde coast side for Amari’i Bell – then the three points – completing his anticipated signing for an undisclosed fee.

Bell, 23, signed a two-and-a-half-year deal on Friday.

Having started out as a youngster at Birmingham he went on to have spells at Swindon and Gillingham before joining Fleetwood in 2015, where he made 115 appearances in the league for the Cod Army.

Despite ‘reported interest from Championship clubs,’ according to the Official Website, Blackburn were the club to bring in the left back, who was drawn to Ewood Park by our ambition and the fact Rovers are a ‘massive club’ – so it didn’t need him to think too much about it.

Bell told the Official Website: ‘Blackburn is a massive club. When I heard there was interest I was thrilled. Our ambitions match and it was a simple decision. It’s hard to say no to a club like this. Some will say they are too big a club to be in this league. They want to go up and keep progressing and that’s exactly what I want to do with my career.’

Given Bell’s ability, undoubtedly proven in League One, which seems he’s ready to step up to the Championship, which is obviously Blackburn’s aim, the left back should not only do the business this season but in the years ahead so is a quality addition.
