New boss Lambert began with a win for Blackburn as they secured a two-one win over Preston in the Championship on Saturday.

Blackburn were ahead when Pickford (31) became the first person to beat himself in the Preston goal after six straight cleansheets as the ‘keeper scored an own goal! Pickford diverted an Akpan effort into the back of the net to give Rovers the lead at half time.

A Rhodes penalty early in the second half doubled the Blackburn lead before former Rovers striker Garner gave Preston hope but the home side couldn’t find an equaliser and ended with 10-men when Wright was sent off for collecting his second yellow card.
