Blackburn Rovers’ on loan midfielder Carlos Villanueva has once again reiterated his desire to stay at Ewood Park next season.

The Chilean International’s one-year loan deal ends at the end of the summer (which would mean Villanueva would then return to Audax Italiano), however, once again he’s reiterated his desire to stay with Rovers as well as again highlighting what has been learned this season and how this could benefit him and Rovers in the seasons ahead.

Villanueva told Sky Sports: “I want to stay as I feel as though I am learning every day.

“It is very different in England from Chile. The game is quicker and stronger. It takes time to adjust and I feel I would improve next season.

“When I arrived in Blackburn I got chickenpox and could not train for three weeks. Now things are better.

“This is one of the best leagues in the world and I am enjoying being part of it.

“While I would like to be involved in more games, it is okay. I am happy at Blackburn.

Villanueva isn’t saying anything that hasn’t already been said and I have no doubts that the Chilean has learned plenty (nor do I doubt his ability) but the simple truth that remains is if Audax Italiano are continuing to demand at least £5 million for him then there’s no way a deal will be agreed.

With safety now secured, baring two defeats and a series of freak results it’s the ideal time for Sam Allardyce to give Carlos two STARTS to get a final idea of what he can do, and with Chelsea the next match coming up things won’t get much tougher than that so if Carlos can do the business against them then that’s got to be a good thing!!!
