With Newcastle now taking the lead in the Championship, moving to the summit in midweek, the pre-season favourites will be looking to keep this place going forward now with Ipswich coming to St James’ Park on Saturday looking to go away with the NUFC scalp.

Steve Bruce gained his first win in midweek at Reading, he’ll look for his first at Villa Park when Fulham visit Aston Villa.

Brentford had to be content with a point at Derby in the week, back at Griffin Park the Bees will look to get back to winning ways against a Barnsley side that have hit a bad run of form. Blackburn ended their own poor Championship form with a first win under Owen Coyle against Nottingham Forest, Rovers will look to follow this up with something at Bristol City.

After successive defeats Huddersfield will look to end the week with a positive outcome at the John Smith’s Stadium against Derby with Preston’s win over the Terriers extending an unbeaten run with second placed Norwich looking to end this when PNE visit Carrow Road.

The disastrous spell Alan Stubbs had at Rotherham saw the Millers parting company with him in midweek they’ll be visited by Reading in a match Jaap Stam will want a Royals reaction to from the injury-time midweek defeat.

When Brighton go to second-bottom Wigan the expectancy would be they’ll come away from the DW Stadium with the points to keep them (at least) in third with Wolves also struggling for form at the moment when hosting Leeds.

Neil Warnock had been mentioned in connection with Nottingham Forest in the summer, this didn’t happen but he returned to management with Cardiff recently where he remains unbeaten in his two-matches with the Bluebirds who go to the City Ground for the late kick-off on Saturday.

We can say it goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result.

But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough!

Ahead of the match we’re looking for your views on what way you do think it will go, which obviously requires you to vote in the latest poll in one of the options you’re given.
