Cardiff were ahead in the opening minutes with Mason (5) making the most of Blackburn ‘keeper Raya’s poor clearance that allowed Peltier to put in the Bluebirds striker to do the rest and see Rovers off to a disastrous start!

Marshall kept Cardiff ahead though saving Koita, given a start by Bowyer with Rhodes injured, and former Bluebirds teammate Conway.

Koita thought, having gone close in his previous outings for the club let alone on the night, thought he had opened his Blackburn account when he headed in a Spurr freekick however this was ruled out for offside.

Raya, and then Hanley covering, kept Ralls at bay with Delfouneso seeing an effort deflected effort onto the top of the crossbar with Hanley having a couple of chances to draw Blackburn level.

Finally it was Hanley (88) who did this with a controlled side foot volley past Cardiff ‘keeper Marshall two-minutes from full time.
