Blackburn’s Championship season continued with a draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

A win was denied Blackburn, which would have made it three successive defeats for Middlesbrough, by an equaliser from former Burnley striker David Nugent 11-minutes from time in a one-one draw.

One of Blackburn’s own January signings, coming in on transfer deadline day, was Jordi Gomez who marked his debut with a 20-yard strike to have Rovers ahead with less than 20-minutes to go.

Nugent, which came after former Blackburn striker Jordan Rhodes came on for his debut following his £9m move to the Riverside Stadium on Monday, headed in the equaliser from an Emilio Nsue cross for Middlesbrough soon after to see the points shared.

Elliott Ward, another of those signed by Paul Lambert since his arrival, did have the ball in the net but this was disallowed for offside with both sides having chances as Darragh Lenihan also threatening from defence.

Hope Akpan could have won it for Blackburn late on but he didn’t hit the target, which was something Rhodes did but Jason Steele, also facing his former club, saved well to see the points shared.

These were the other results.
