New Blackburn Rovers signing Johann Vogel has set out his intentions for how he sees his time going at Ewood Park, but has conceded that he might need to be patient.

Two weeks on trial at Ewood was enough to convince Mark Hughes to offer him a two-and-a-half-year contract, but the midfielder hasn’t played a first team match in 10-months due to a legal dispute with his former side Real Betis, who finally released him in December, so with no football for so long he realises that it might take some time until he does get this here, but should he get it he intends to make the most of it.

Vogel told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “I’ve trained more than two weeks with the squad and I think I have to practice a little bit more, that is normal after 10 months without playing, but if I am given my chance to play then I will do my best.

“If the manager thinks I’m ready then I’ll be happy as 10 months is a long time. If he wants me to play this season, I’ll grab my chance
.”

The Swiss International is very happy to have signed his contract here, and having already played in his homeland, Holland and Italy he finally now has the chance to play in England, something which he says he has always wanted to do.

Vogel added: “I’m very happy the deal is done.

“I played for many years in the Netherlands, in Serie A and the Primera Liga in Spain and now for me it is a great opportunity to play in The Premier League.

“It is one of the three leagues that it has always been an objective of mine to play in, I can’t wait to get started
“.
