27 year old Roma striker Mirko Vucinic has rejected the chance to join Rovers in a 16 million pound move.

The players agent has said his client deserves to play for a ‘more prestigious’ club than Rovers.

Alessandro Lucci told Sky Italia: ‘I have not heard anything. For now it’s on standby because first we want to understand the intentions of Roma.

Blackburn talk is just a rumour. It is a respectable club but I think Mirko deserves a more prestigious club.’

‘Vucinic will either remain in the capital, or will aim for a team of a similar level.’

Ah well! Plenty more out there! Would have been a great signing but always looked unlikely!

  • Where’d you get £16m from, Rover? I always understood that fee to be £12m, or are you including his wages?

  • I think we’ve dodged a bullet here. Let this oft injured primadona go to a more ‘prestigious’ club then.
We have a sizeable budget for once; we can bring better players in for that price and it looks like the club are looking at loads of options. We have reason for optimism in this window!

  • here lies the problem with steve kean. no matter how much money we offer or how good kean really is, kean is still unproven, which makes attracting top players difficult. this was partly how john walker succeeded in creating a championship club

  • Usual rule applies here for me – if the player doesn’t want to play for Rovers, then he’s better off not being here. The money being talked about here is massive, so we’re better off without him if he’s not that bothered about pulling on the blue and white.

  • Nevermind, it was always a longshot. He obviously thinks very highly of himself if he thinks he’s too good for an established PL club. He can take his lowly 10 league goals record somewhere else! lol. Seriously though Pappa Cissè looks a better buy anyway with 20+ goals in a tough league like ours.

  • Not sorry we’ve missed out on him really. Could’ve proven an expensive flop who would’ve soon wanted out, best we didn’t get him as we’re not “prestigious enough”.
