Bolton Wanderers are apparently in the hunt for a new midfielder and see Blackburns’ Steven Reid as the ideal man, providing his fitness holds up.

Reid has only just stepped back into the breach as Shakespeare once said and is currently at QPR on loan to get some fitness back.

The 28-year-old is actually out of contract in the summer but Rovers are keen to hold onto the box-to-box man and the only thing preventing him from him being offered a deal is the poor injury record he has.

I personally am a fan of Steven but I know someone that isn’t (hint: he’s Welsh and his name rhymes with Tom Tom), but I think that if Steven can make it through his spell with QPR and back into the Rovers first team by January, he has the ability and skill to earn a new deal.

Fingers crossed.

  • i think we keep him. If he performs, offer him a contract with 2 months remaining, if he doesnt perform, he can leave on a free. He has spent 3/4 years injured, there is no point even trying to cash in, as we will get bout 300k max for him. Take a punt on him with the 6 months, if no good, then sorry, he needs to go

  • I’m also a fan of Reid – when he was injury free he had a great season – I would offer him a new two year deal but with a lower wage on the understanding that he need to repay us for standing by him. If he wants to go as he wants regular football or more money, then I would let him go and wish him luck – but I think he knows that Rovers is the best place for him.

  • I’m more than happy for Reidy to get a new contract provided he comes through his loan with Queens Park Rangers without any reaction and the performances give us the indication that he’ll be worthy of it. Personally I have concerns over Reidy but hope to be proven wrong.
