There could be a shock in store for Liverpool this weekend if Rovers play at the top of their game. That is the verdict of one of their ex-players. Stephen Warnock feels that Rovers have the confidence to upset Liverpool and has put his past connection with the club behind him.

Warnock, speaking to the Lancashire evening Telegraph, said – “My Liverpool connection is all in the past. I am just enjoying my football at Blackburn.

“I won`t be thinking about it being Liverpool on Saturday ? it is just like any other game for me now.

“I don`t care about what goes on in the title race to be honest because it is nothing to do with me. Of course I want them to be successful because I want friends who are at the club to win things.

“But it is Blackburn I look out for now. We have a relegation battle on and I will be delighted if we win on Saturday.”

Rovers do go into the game in good form, from a possible 18 points they have picked up 11 which laves them 5 ahead of the red line.

Add into this that when Allardyce took over Rovers were 5 points BEHIND the safety mark and the job is getting done – but it is not a finished job yet.

Everyone is in good spirits though as Warny testifies.

Warnock carried on – “Last Saturday`s win over Tottenham sets us up nicely for Liverpool.

“It has taken a little bit of pressure off us going there, because the last thing you would want to be doing is going to Liverpool having lost at home the week before.

“Hopefully we can go there and give a good account of ourselves.”
