We feel the burn and the pain too, says Nelsen

Rovers club captain Ryan Nelsen has given a spoken interview in India and has addressed the mental state of the players as well as the trip itself.

Nelsen is currently out injured but has seen enough of the players during the poor start to the campaign to know that the players are suffering along with the fans.

Criticism has been flying in left, right and centre over the lack of desire amongst the players but Nelly insists that the Rovers playing squad are feeling it just as much as the fans are at the moment with a desire to redress the balance.

Nelsen is reported on goal.com as saying – “I`ve been at the club for a long time and the fans are incredibly good. I love the Blackburn fans. They want the team to win and so do we.’

“So if they think that they are definitely disappointed then you must come and see the dressing room after it or come see our training. We are even more disappointed.

“We are trying our hardest to obviously win games and make those fans happy. Because we feel the pain as well, more than them.

“It`s been unfortunate as the manager never had the strongest team to play with [all the] injuries and we haven`t had consistency in the team. Well, it’s early days, so only seven games where you are only one win away from mid-table. It`s really early days. We know we have to get better.

“It`s nice to have this run at the start of the season than through the middle. And we need to turn our performances into points. We know that and we are working really hard to do that.”

Despite some quarters questioning the need for a tour to India in the international break the Kiwi has called the tour a welcome break from the pressure of being in Blackburn.

Nelsen added – “I think it`s fantastic timing, sometimes if you think [about] the pressure, the disappointment everybody else has, and it`s triple on the players. We are disappointed more than anybody.

“So sometimes you can put more pressure on yourself [by being in England]. By coming here and seeing the Indian people and all the smiles and the colours, it`s really nice and just refreshing where you can take a step back and refocus your mind and [then get] back to work.”

Maybe we can all have a break to India too? It’s been hard for us!
