well, well, well, well, well.

Incredible, after a tame, dispirited display against Liverpool we had another tough game at home to Man United and I could of sworn we were playing with a different set of players.

Energetic, lively, controlled, disciplined at the back, well lead, good passing, solid ball retention and ruthlessness… where the heck has that been???

Anyway, I can’t seriously pick any losers as it would be unfair to do so but here are the 3 BIG winners of the weekend.

WINNERS

STEPHEN WARNOCK –
Best outfield player on the pitch, Ronaldo did nothing in the first half and that was because of the ex-Liverpool stalwart. In fact, Stephen was that good that Ronaldo switched flanks in the 2nd half. Fast, great tackling and above all DIDN’T dive in at his feet.

He gave every Premier League left back a lesson in how to do deal with Ronaldo.

I hope Fabio watched the game on Saturday evening as he will never pick Nicky Shorey ever again if he did.

JOHAN VOGEL – Very very average in his first two appearances but a real upturn in fortunes here. Strong and aggressive, he was the United midfield’s equal here and put in a cracking tackle in the second half on Ronaldo in the penalty box.

His fitness has got noticeably better in the last week or so and he was given a standing ovation when substituted.

A very accomplished performance… now I can see what the fuss was about.

AND FINALLY….

BRAD FRIEDEL –Quite simply the greatest Blackburn Rovers’ goalkeeper ever. Several unbelievable saves and a commanding presence as the last line of defence.

As good as the outfield players were, it wuld of been 5-1 if any other goalkeeper was in net.

One save in particular from John O’Shea was magnificent.

He won’t win the PFA goalkeeeper of the year, David James will. But that is a travesty as James isn’t half the goalie Brad is. Due to the media hype and Englishness of James he is considered the best goalkeeper this year.

But you couldn’t make me swap Brad with anyone.

As I said before, I can’t pick any losers this week. I could of named 10 of them in all honesty in the losers category last week. But Saturday made me proud to be a Rovers fan again.
