Skysports is reporting that West Ham have lodged a £2million bid for Benni McCarthy, more than the £1.25 million than was first thought to have been tendered.

West Ham have a new lease of life in the transfer window as new co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have come in and promised funds to boss Gianfranco Zola, and they have targeted McCarthy to brighten up their attacking options.

Big Sam has already admitted that if a big came in that was acceptable then McCarthy would be allowed to leave Ewood Park – but the bad news for West Ham is that the £2 million bid is not the £3 million that Rovers have in mind.

Looks like a case of try again Eastenders.
