Brett Emerton, signed from Dutch Club Feynoord in 2003, recently spoke to Australian Reporter, David Riccio, in the Daily Telegraph Newspaper.

Emerton, the most versatile player in the English Premier League, recently signed a new contract, extending his stay at Blackburn until the end of 2012. However, this looks to be the last contract Emerton Signs for Rovers, as he looks to head home and establish a new franchise in the A-League.

In the interview, Emerton is quoted

‘I definately want to finish my career back in Australia….I’d like to give something to the game back home. I’ve got a few years left on my contract here, so I’ll probably come back after i finish that

The man who famously rejected a move to Train with Manchester United in 1999, telling his father who was on the phone to Sir Alex Ferguson at the time, that he was too young and wanted to compete in the Olympics, has repaid Blackburn with his consistent efforts on the pitch. However, many might think he can play on past 32/33 in the EPL.

Personally, I feel it is best for him to leave whilst he is on top. Many stars have slowly faded away, playing into the late 30s just for more money. We all know that money is not Emerton’s priorities. We hope he continues his great form and consistency in the coming seasons, and wish him all the best.
