Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson insists his side can shock Blackburn in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.

The draw saw Posh drawn away to the Blue and White Army, which actually left Fergie Jnr disappointed not to have drawn a ‘bigger club’.

Red nose in training also expressed his desire to win and progress as far as they can in the competition, believing that Big Sam will be using a reserve side in the match.

Darren Ferguson, spoke to Posh’s official website – ‘It is a poor draw in the sense that we were looking for one of the bigger clubs in the next round, but it is a Premier League club and it will be a good opportunity for my players to express themselves.

‘I actually believe it is a winnable tie. Sam Allardyce played his reserve team in the last round and I would imagine he may do the same again.

‘We want to progress as far as we can in the competition and when the tie is our next fixture we will concentrate fully on it, but we have plenty of important league games coming up and we need to start picking up some points.’

I think it is fair to say that Darren has every right to expect big things of his talented side but I think it might suprise him the strength of the side that Big Sam might put out.

We are getting to the business end of the competition and Rovers will field a good side, with probably a few changes to freshen things up, to make sure of a victory. I dont think it will be the wholesale changes of the Forest and Gillingham games.

The prize is the quarter finals of the Carling Cup.
