Who May Exit Ewood Before Midnight?

At midnight tonight the summer transfer window will close until January 1st 2007. Although Mark Hughes will not want anyone to leave he could face a battle to hold onto some.

What activity could we possibly see surrounding Ewood Park today as regards to players leaving?

Lucas Neill: The Australian seemed destined to leave after a superb World Cup, and his agent’s admission earlier in the month that a new deal would not be signed only added fuel to the fire. Hughes has said he doesn’t want the player to leave even if it means him walking away for nothing next summer but a serious money offer would probably force his hand. Liverpool have already had one bid rejected but seem very certain they will still get their man.

Andy Todd: Rovers captain Todd was angry at being dropped for the Chelsea game in place of new arrival Andre Ooijer. Todd won`t be guaranteed a starting place from now on so a move on could be very much possible. Former club Bolton seem the favourites at the moment, although Roy Keane would like to add the hard man to his Sunderland ranks. Portsmouth, Manchester City and Leeds are also in the hunt.

Ideally Hughes wouldn’t want to see anyone move away from Ewood at the moment and although it looked as though several could have earlier in the summer, with the exception of Neill, and the players that have already left, these players signed new or improved contracts. Neill could negotiate his free transfer away from Ewood in January so it will all depend on how much Hughes really does want to keep the player, and how much his contribution this season could counter the loss of revenue earned if his isn`t sold for a fee now.
