Will Blackburn Buy In January?

We don’t want to see players signed for Blackburn Rovers for the sake of signing players but SURELY we need some signings in January?

Manager Mark Hughes has hinted that he may sign new players but he is hoping that those who will be returning (HOPEFULLY!) in or around January (Ryan Nelsen, Steven Reid and Jason Roberts) will be like new signings anyway. He recently said:

In January, it’s always dependent on whether or not there are players for me to bring in who will be better than what I’ve got in the first XI.

I’ve got some very good players in the first XI at the moment so they’ll have to be exceptional players to take someone’s place in the side.

We look at January as an opportunity to possibly bring new players in, but hopefully if everything goes right it’s a time when we’ll be welcoming back three players who, if they were on the open market, would cost an exceptional amount of money.

Having those three back would therefore be like making three new signings anyway.”

Personally I feel that even with players returning we DO need to strengthen the squad. Recent times have highlighted the need for us to do so and January gives us this opportunity. If we don’t get players in during the January window if we pick up injuries again it could prove a VERY long four months or so through to the end of the season.

Do we need to strengthen our squad in January? Leave your thoughts below?
