Will We See Gomaa In Internationals?

After this weekend several of Blackburn Rovers’ stars will head of to represent their respective countries for International friendly duty… AGAIN! At least there is no break this time.

For a change we won’t have people jetting off all over the shop though as our Australian and South African contingent won’t be getting off to the other side of the globe as both countries will be playing their matches in London.

Tuesday 14th November sees Australia (who have called up Lucas Neill and Brett Emerton) take on Ghana at Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers, Scotland B take on the Republic of Ireland in Dublin with Jay McEveley being called up for Scotland and Jason Brown is in the Welsh Squad that takes on Liechtenstein in Wrexham.

Wednesday 15th November sees Roy Hodgson’s (former Rovers boss) Finland tackle Armenia in Helsinki, with Peter Enckelman named in the squad with Morten Gamst Pedersen travelling to Belgrade with Norway as they face Serbia and Montenegro. Andre Ooijer will also be hoping to line up against England in Amsterdam after being called up by Holland.

The game (possibly even including England!) that interests me the most is the Nelson Mandela Challenge Match between South Africa and Egypt on Wednesday at Griffin Park, home of Brentford. Aaron Mokoena has again been called up by South Africa but maybe this game could give us a chance to see our target Wael Gomaa, assuming he is involved for Egypt?

Reports in the last day or so have again seen him linked with a January move to England and Ewood Park. As we know he had a trial spell in August with it said a move to Rovers in January was very likely.

Once Al-Ahly’s African Champions League final in Tunisia is out of the way Gomaa hopes his dream move to England and hopefully even still Rovers can be fulfilled:

I want to fulfil my dream of going abroad in 2007.

Nothing is certain yet, but I am waiting for news from Blackburn straight after the Champions League final,” said Gomaa on EgyptianPlayers.com.

I’m looking into hopefully finding out more on the resurfacing of the Gomaa link to see if there is anything in it so if and when I find out YOU will be the first to know…
