Image for Williams gets a bit emotional

Former Rovers chairman John Williams has admitted that he felt a bit emotional reading tributes to himself that were made by fans, players and the club.

Williams was at Ewood for 14 years but left last month with the new regime in place.

But Williams was pleased with his time at the club even if he was a little surprised!

John Williams is quoted on the Lancashire Telegraph website as saying – “Football boardrooms are not normally places where grown men show too much emotion, so you get a bit conditioned to the stiff upper lip way.

“However reading the comments at home I confess to a lump in the throat.

‘I have often used the expression ‘the only thing that is constant is change` and now I am understanding the full practical implications of such sentiments.

“Clearly all things come to an end and my time at Rovers I`m afraid ran out.

‘I never planned to leave in the fashion I did but you can`t plan everything.”
