Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams insists that Rovers WON’T be looking to strengthen the defence, despite the problems that could be faced.

With skipper Ryan Nelsen currently resting his hamstring problem, Christopher Samba suspended and Stephane Henchoz shattered (I mean injured) manager Mark Hughes is left with only Andre Ooijer and Zurab Khizanishvili as his only available first team central defenders, along with some youngsters and new teenage signing Johnny Flynn. Even so Williams has said that Rovers will not look to sign players in this area merely to act as cover.

Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph: “I don’t think it’s a matter of urgency. We’ve got enough good players there and I don’t think we will be looking for people in that area.

“We would not be buying anyone just to act as cover
