Blackburn Rovers chairman has insisted that whoever takes over the job at Ewood Park that NO players need to be sold, and unless this manager wants this they won’t!

The departure of Mark Hughes has made many worry that plenty of players could follow him out of Ewood, however, Williams has assured the next manager (and the fans!!!) that whoever does come in will get the same backing as Hughes did as far as players are concerned, and the need to sell them. So this will again mean IF they are under contract unless Rovers want to sell them they WON’T be going anywhere!!!

Williams told Sky Sports: “One of the plusses the new manager can expect is the backing he will get from me and the club.

“We have resisted offers for Ryan Nelsen, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Jason Roberts, David Bentley, Benni McCarthy in the past – the list goes on.

“What we have tried to do is keep what we have got and gradually build the squad and I don’t see that changing when the new man comes in.

“There’s a world of difference between a club who can’t spend multi-millions but can keep their players and one that has to sell. We don’t have to sell our players
.

Players that do want to move on are always hard to keep against their will, but Williams has again stressed that as much as is human possible, unless the new manager does want to sell certain individuals he will not have to.

He added: “The new manager may come in and say we should sell this player or that one.

“But for four years with Sparky, the policy was one of stability and trying to discretely add to the squad.

“The one thing the new manager can expect is exactly that degree of backing again
.”
