Blackburn Rovers Chairman John Williams has outlined his hopes for this seasons UEFA Cup campaign, and has started by saying how “very disappointed” he would be if Rovers lost out to MyPa.

The Lancashire Telegraph classed MyPa as “the unknown Finnish side”, which personally I think is VERY wrong, I in actual fact I they are ANYTHING but unknown (although I may be alone in saying this, but I have known about them for YEARS!!!) as they are a side that regularly play in European Competition.

They will not be easy when they are faced in the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Cup, but with all due respect to MyPa Rovers SHOULD be beating them over two legs in all reality, something that Williams is expecting as well as being sure about.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph:

We are a seeded team and, undoubtedly, we will be favourites to progress from this tie.

“Of course, we must guard against complacency and you underestimate these teams at your peril.

“But Mark will prepare his players diligently and seriously and I personally feel that we should come progress from this tie with no real problems.

“I would be very disappointed if we did not progress.

“The stronger side usually comes through over two legs. In a one-off situation, the chance of a surprise is there.

“But we need to get through to join the other English sides in the UEFA Cup. That would then be our reward for going through the Intertoto Cup route
.”

Looking further ahead, and how he hopes (and even expects) Rovers to progress in this seasons UEFA Cup proper (assuming, as expected Rovers overcome MyPa) he added:

We won our group last year, but then went out in the next round. That was disappointing, but we hope to go further this year.”
