Williams Sets Rovers Target

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams knows that Rovers need to start winning and fast, with it understood that he has set a target of nine wins from the final twenty-two matches to be played.

Paul Ince’s future as manager was discussed at Tuesday’s monthly board meeting with it understood the board is split on his future, but Ince is safe in his job until Saturday’s meeting with Wigan Athletic at least. The match with Wigan is understood to be one that Incey MUST lead us to victory in or that could be the end of his reign at Ewood Park.

Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. “We have 22 games left and the sooner we start picking up the wins, the better the situation will look.

“The longer we go without a win, the more difficult it becomes for us to get those wins we need.

“The players and the manager believe our fortunes will change once we get that first win, but we all know we need that win quickly.

We currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League table and have failed to win in the last ten matches and are on a run of five straight defeats, however, a win over Wigan would relieve some of the pressure building on Incey and move us closer to the 40 points target that Williams has apparently set (40 points is usually the bench mark for survival.)
