Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams has spoken of his excitement at the appointment of Paul Ince.

40-year-old Ince was appointed as the new Rovers manager in succession to Mark Hughes on Sunday, and although he admits that appointing someone who is relatively inexperienced in terms of management (without doubt at the highest level) ahead of the likes of Michael Laudrup, Steve McClaren and Sam Allardyce, Williams is convinced that Incey can do the job.

Williams told the Sun: “I’m very excited by the appointment.

“We’ve had a very long and thorough process and we’re very pleased to get Paul. Judging by his reaction he’s really up for it.

“I don’t know what the fans’ reaction will be. It’s a risk whoever you appoint.

“But I believe that Paul will do a very good job for us
