Wisla Krakow and their defender Nikola Mijailovic have appealed UEFA’s five-match ban that was imposed on Thursday for the player racially abusing Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy when the two teams met in a UEFA Group E match in Poland.

The incident occurred during Rovers 2-1 victory on Thursday 19th October when Rovers travelled away to Polish side Krakow. After the match McCarthy complained of racial abuse throughout the match, mainly at the hands of 24-year-old Mijailovic.

Mijailovic confessed to having a running battle with our star striker, yet insists McCarthy started the trouble, inappropriately hitting him, bawling and sticking out his tongue, using numerous swear words during their duels and acting like a sissy.

Mijailovic was given until today to appeal the decision and knowledge of this so far is vague, yet it has arisen that the appeal against the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body’s decision will take place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon and is likely to be heard on Wednesday.
