Officially Michael Gray was a FORMER Blackburn Rovers defender; having already left the club after his contract was not renewed. Either way he has signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

32-year-old former England International Gray was shown the Ewood Park door by Mark Hughes this summer, having spent the latter part of the 2006-2007 season on loan with Championship strugglers Leeds United. They had been keen to sign him on a permanent deal but after their relegation to League One, and their financial difficulties such a move was not ever that likely to happen.

Having spent the last couple of months looking for a team it is fellow Championship side Wolves (managed by his former Sunderland Boss Mick McCarthy) that have snapped him up, and I wish him well.

Gray told the Official Wolverhampton Wanderers website:

Mick is a big part of me wanting to come here. Having worked with him in the past I know what he’s all about.

“It’s a very young squad and hopefully I can pass on some of my experience
.”
