Yet more Rovers ticket reductions!

Blackburn Rovers are about to set an example that many others could do well to follow. Having already reduced tickets a couple of times already this season they are doing it again.

Tickets were much reduced, or even free to season ticket holders for the UEFA Cup first round second leg tie at Ewood Park last week, and tickets have been reduced for Chelsea’s visit to Ewood in the League Cup later this month, now in a move rarely seen, all tickets for a PREMIERSHIP match are to be reduced, against a local rival nonetheless!

With Rovers progressing into the group stages of the UEFA Cup the club realises that this means at least two more home European ties this season, and obviously at least two more away, possibly more, so with money not growing on tree they’ve looked at ways to confront dwindling attendances, ways to make game attendance as opposed to television viewing more appealing and obviously pricing for both home and away fans.

As a result of feedback from Rovers fans Rovers have take the unprecedented step of reducing ticket prices for the clubs Premiership clash with local rivals Bolton Wanderers on Sunday 22nd October. Also as a way to bring back the passion of the fixture, which with an attendance of 62,522 in the 1929 clash with Bolton remains the clubs record attendance, tickets have been reduced heavily.

For this match both home and away fans will pay £15 per ticket, with senior citizens and children paying only £5 per ticket. For more details visit the official Blackburn Rovers website by clicking here.

Also, in the first of a number of promotions by Rovers to attract more fans during the season, the club are to launch a new advertising campaign in the Bolton media in the aim of attracting more of their fans to the tie. Rovers chairman John Williams said:

Normally clubs may discount what they view as a low profile game but we are doing something radically different here because this is a Lancashire derby and a match fans want to see.

We are hoping for a full house as both sides have started the season well and all the feedback from supporters is they want to watch games in packed stadiums because it creates a better atmosphere.

The best way to sample the noise, passion and excitement a match like this generates is not in the pub but inside the stadium.

However I’d like to reassure season ticket holders this move is in no way intended to undervalue their contribution to the club and these promotions will only be for a selected few games.

The number of season ticket holders has risen for the first time in four seasons and we continue to appreciate their much valued support and look at ways they can get maximum benefit from being season ticket holders.”
