It wasn’t “Roy of the Rovers” from former Blackburn Rovers Manager Roy Hodgson when the England Manager drew us against (another former side) Liverpool in the FA Cup on Monday evening.

The first ball drawn out was Liverpool and then it was Rovers (technically not by Hodgson as Sir Tom Finnie’s son drew our ball!!) meaning we’ll be going to Anfield for our FA Cup Quarter-Final next month. We definitely could’ve had a kinder draw, and even facing Liverpool would’ve been one that would’ve been preferred at Ewood Park, however, if that FA Cup dream is going to remain on track then this is the hand we’ve been dealt so we play it and should go to Anfield without any fear as the pressure is all on Liverpool who will be expected to win!!

If Bolton Wanderers can almost beat them at Anfield (they were winning with five-minutes to play in the fourth round replay after a 0-0 draw at The Macron Stadium) then we’ve got to feel we’ve got an even better chance. Ideally we’ll win at Anfield as we could do without a replay as The Championship matches start to pile up, however, if we take them back to Ewood I’d be confident that a place in the Semi-Finals could be ours.

Potentially ninety-minutes from Wembley, we could’ve hard an “easier draw” but it could’ve been worse a trip to Old Trafford or The Emirates Stadium are matches I wanted less but with the FA Cup opening up even more for someone to grab it if they want it enough after the Fifth Round matches and Quarter-Final draw.

With some luck and enough desire we can do this so we shouldn’t be writing off our chances of beating Liverpool!!
