With under a year left on his current contract Australian International Lucas Neill could be on his way out of Ewood Park according to agent Peter Harrison.

They have made an offer which Lucas has declined – he is not going to be signing a new contract at Blackburn,‘ were the views of agent Peter Harrison.

Harrison went on to add.

He has enjoyed his time there, he loves the club and the fans and he is happy there, he just feels it is time for a change in career. If he has to stay he will have to stay, but this is not about money at all.

He finished off when speaking to skysports.com by saying.

There will probably be more talks before the end of August, but it doesn’t look as if he will stay but as always he will continue to do his best for Blackburn.

The 28-year-old Australian International is fresh from a World Cup which brought him plenty of rave reviews despite as a role as a central defender, despite his versatility a position Rovers are not used to seeing his play.

It was exciting last year to be a part of Blackburn and there’s no doubt with a couple of the signings we have had this year it’s going to be another good season,‘ said Neill himself on Sydney Radio.

Fans favourite Neill would add the following.

But it’s an interesting situation that I have never experienced before. He (Mark Hughes) has stated that he wants me to stay and he would rather let me go on the free but I don’t know if that’s just a starting point for talks or not.

Everyone at Ewood Park knows how important Lucas Neill is to the club so to lose a player of his quality would be a massive blow.

Despite his quality a large fee would be unlikely, especially with so little time left on his contract so keeping Neill unless he really wanted to leave would be in the clubs best interest even if it means him walking away for nothing next summer.

Hopefully a new deal can be agreed anyway.
