Blackburn Rovers have handed new contracts to two of the clubs Irish youngsters.
20-year-old defender Tony Kane has agreed a new contract to stay at Ewood Park until the summer of 2009. Despite impressing for Cercle Brugge (our feeder or partner club) and Stockport County during loan spells the full-back is yet to make his first team debut for Rovers. Kane has however represented both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at various levels up to Under-21 level, and was last year part of the senior Northern Ireland set-up.
Another Irishman (and also a defender) Gavin Gunning has signed his first professional contract with the club. The 17-year-old Academy skipper has assured himself of a long-term future at Ewood by signing a contract to stay until 2010.
