Jason Roberts insists he is not feeling any added pressure this summer as Blackburn Rovers` continue their long search for strike power.
The Grenadan is adamant life is normal at Ewood Park and is just looking forward to having as strong a squad as possible for the new season.
J-Rob’s best mate Benni McCarthy and the mn himself are charged with firing in the goals at the moment but that is not a problem for the two as they have always had a very good understanding.
Add into the equation the re-emergence of Paul Gallagher and the imminent new arrivals and Roberts is confident things can kick on.
Roberts, speaking to the L.E.T said – “Definitely not. I don`t feel any pressure. I will just do the best I can and will keep performing as well as I can do.
“I am sure there will be other strikers coming in, that is football.
“It is not an issue for me at all. I want the club to buy the best players they can possibly can. There is no point in being afraid of competition.
“We will wait and see who arrives and then I look forward to fighting for my place in the side. We all want the best squad possible.”
Level headed stuff from the J-Rob but what about targets for the new season? Whats that you say he’s got more to say – oh ok, sorry I will shut up then.
Jason continued – “I don`t set goal targets. It is all relevant to how many games you start. I was quite happy with that last season and if I can carry that on again, I will be quite happy again.
“The target is us winning games. It is hard work at the moment but it will all be worth it – once we get into that first game of the Premier League.
“It has been nice to get a run-out. We have been doing a lot of training so it is nice to get on the ball, and score a couple of goals. There have been one or two good performances as well. I thought the new lad Steven Nzonzi was outstanding so it all bodes well for the future.
“Last season was half a year to forget. The second half with the manager all went pretty well and the points total in terms of the games we played was actually quite good. I think there is a determination among the lads because we want to make sure last season was just a blip.”
Thats the kind of talk i like and i am sure many others will be pleased to hear.
