Travelling to the Keepmoat Stadium for tonight’s League One clash against Doncaster Rovers, Blackburn Rovers knew that automatic promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking was on the cards given the season we’d had so far.

A point kept us ticking along in the battle at the top of the table, but when Charlie Mulgrew struck with ten minutes remaining in the game, taking the 1-0 victory on the evening means Shrewsbury Town cannot now catch us, so promotion is mathematically guaranteed.

With some looking to Bristol Rovers to do us a favour against Wigan Athletic in their corresponding tie tonight, well they only went and held them to a 1-1 draw.

Blackburn secure second spot at the very least in the season of 2017/18 but there is now only a point to top spot and the title. With two games remaining this term it’s certainly all still to play for as we go into matches against Charlton Athletic and Oxford United.
