The Blackburn Rovers contract termination agreements with Dickson Etuhu and DJ Campbell this week (with David Goodwillie also having his contract ended) are likely to be the last for now.

We’ve still got other players that don’t feature in Gary Bowyer’s future Blackburn plans, which means we need to try and do all we can to cut the wages to make sure we fall in line with the Financial Fair Play rulings.

However, it’s my understanding that pro-actively looking to reduce the wage bill by agreeing mutual terminations with the likes of this trio isn’t going to count against us as it would clearly mean a bigger lump payout to move them on. Making such moves would (I think) be viewed as a positive and not a negative thing.

Leon Best, Jordan Slew and Alex Marrow were also informed that they weren’t part of our future plans along with Ruben Rochina (who is returning from a loan spell with Rayo Vallecano.) At this stage they’ll not be having their contracts ended but Managing Director Derek Shaw hasn’t ruled this out in the future when talking to the Lancashire Telegraph.

David Dunn and Markus Olsson are still in talks with Rovers over possible returns but as it currently stands they’re not going to be our players this season with most of the squad returned (Rochina is due back on Saturday) for pre-season training today.
