On Saturday night rival fans of Burnley and Blackburn were involved in a mass brawl as Burnley fans boarded a train with a coach load of Rovers fans already on.

The fans traded insults before fighting broke out and spilled out onto Blackburn station before police intervened.

A police spokesman commented to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph – ‘This was a very unpleasant incident.

Drunken behaviour of this kind is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the police. Such incidents ruin the enjoyment of match days for the majority of law abiding fans and will be fully investigated by us.

We would urge anyone who witnessed this disorder to come forward and contact police.’

Vital Blackburn does not condone behaviour of this kind and these sort of things spoil the days of the law abiding football fans the go to the games.

And by law abiding I mean the majority.

  • its a shame that organisers did not realise the potential trouble that having Rovers playing at Wigan and Burnley playing at home would cause problems. Sort it out.

  • What?!?! Wigan is in Lancashire and is Burnley.. you have to go through Burnley and Darwen to get to Blackburn. This happened quite easily.

  • tell you what, this will increase as the recession worsens, always does. Think the hooliganism is on the increase again sadly.

  • Sad isnt it? People just cant enjoy the game. I enjoy getting boisterous and venting my anger and frustration the same as anyone but I know how to do it in ways that dont involve kicking seven shades out of people.

  • In an age where different races and religions are integrating into our society it seems stupid to hate somebody just because they support a different team

  • Dont get me wrong, I dont like Burnley, or Bolton or Man U for that matter. But I dont think anyone can explain taking it this far!
