Blackburn’s Championship season continued with a one-nil defeat to Bolton at the Macron Stadium on Monday.
Typically the side to end the 17-match winless run Bolton had been on were Blackburn as Rovers were beaten by their Lancashire rivals on Bank Holiday Monday to make it back-to-back Championship defeats.
Gary Madine scored the winner when he volleyed home 13-minutes from time, that after Madine already had an effort cleared off the line by Marcus Olsson with Zach Clough also hitting the post. Blackburn would have earned a late point had Tom Lawrence’s (goal bound effort) not been deflected onto the post.
These were the other results.

Cardiff v Nottm Forest 19:45
Fulham v Rotherham 19:45

Some interesting results (so far) with these the probable stand out ones.
Middlesbrough end the year top of the Championship table with a one-nil win over Sheffield Wednesday at the Riverside Stadium.
Burnley’s promotion bid got a boost with a four-nil win over Bristol City at Turf Moor whereas Hull (who beat Burnley convincingly on Boxing Day) slumped to another disappointing defeat losing one-nil at Deepdale against Preston.
A play-off push remains very much in the sights of Brentford with the Bees ending the year with a two-one win at Reading.
