Blackburn Rovers were forced to play the vast majority of the match against Milton Keynes Dons with only ten men on Saturday afternoon, which proved too much to ask in the end.

An Adam Henley sending off after only ten minutes was the pivotal moment with it not only decided the Blackburn defender had fouled Josh Murphy it also gave MK Dons a questionable penalty, which was scored to leave Rovers with too much to do.

Gary Bowyer wasn’t only questioning the penalty award itself but also red card, which again left him wondering why video technology isn’t use to help on such calls??

Bowyer told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “In any game when you have a player sent off, and so early on as well, it has a massive bearing on it. But what you ask for is hopefully the decision is correct.

“The referee sprinted to give it and that is disappointing. Was the contact made in the penalty box? Was it a foul in the first place? These are all questions that the referee has to be very clear in his head, he has to be 100% sure that it is a foul.

“The use of technology helps him out massively but we continue to ignore it.

Bowyer doesn’t feel he could’ve asked anymore from his side though with Jordan Rhodes going close with a hell of a save denying him an equaliser and both Rhodes and Craig Conway seeing penalty appeals of their own turned away.

He added: “You’ve seen the performance of them, in the second half they were terrific. The response from them, you’d have never been able to tell we were down to ten men.

“The goalie has made a hell of a save from Jordan, we’ve had one cleared off the line from a Shane Duffy header. We had the belief and confidence that we would get back into the game
.”

A failure to be able to get that equaliser and another two goals, which GB feels should’ve been defended better (the second goal anyway) left Rovers with too much to do in the end at The Stadium:mk with a 3-0 defeat the eventual outcome.

However, whatever Bowyer might say this loss is a poor one as this was against a side without a win since August!!

A reaction against Derby County is called for at Ewood Park on Wednesday evening, with Bowyer finishing by saying: “But we’ve not defended the second well enough, although it was a fantastic cross and that left us with too much to do.

“It is important now that we regroup, look after everyone and bounce back on Wednesday night.
