Bowyer: More Care In That Final Third

A rare occasion I got to watch Blackburn Rovers came on Friday evening with the 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers at Ewood Park with that shown LIVE on Sky Sports, so I took it.

It’ll never, ever be the same watching a match on the television, however, you take what you can when you can when in a position like myself but at times I’d almost wished I hadn’t bothered as it wasn’t the most entertaining of matches really was it!!

Gary Bowyer’s once again spoken about chances Blackburn created but didn’t take with more care in that final third needed.

He told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “We created several great opportunities, the first half especially, we just needed a little bit more care in that final third.

“But you have to take your hat off to Bolton in terms of the bodies that they threw in front of chances.

The Rovers Manager also (and as he usually does) spoke about the effort and commitment shown, however, he doesn’t feel the lucky breaks are coming the way of Rovers. When they do we’ll be up and running.

He added: “All the time we were looking to go forward to try and win the game. Tommy has a header cleared off the line and it drops to Fode but he just couldn’t sort his feet quick enough to put it in the back of the net.

“You saw the effort and commitment from the players, a tremendous honesty from them. We’ve got to just keep working away and it will drop for us and then we’ll be up and running.

Fode Koita looked lively and maybe could end up being a rough diamond that can be polished into something impressive, I think he should’ve done better with his chance though but it did come quickly too him when Tommy Spurr saw his effort cleared off the line.

Rovers looked the more likely side to win and showed more attacking intent (which I’d have expected with us the home side anyway!!), however, it looked a match between two midtable SkyBet Championship sides (at best) and we can’t deny (even though Koita did score but was offside) Bolton had the best chance that Emile Heskey should’ve taken!!

Shane Duffy covered superbly to keep that out though, clearing off the line with the former England International a dead certainty to score you felt. I’d noticed Duffy talking about taking chances before the match, he had a number when he came forward once again but didn’t hit the target.

There were moments of promise from Rovers but I’ve got to say if this is what we’ll have this season it’ll be a long season I fear!!

Has the International Break come at the right time?? I don’t really know if truth be told.
