In a latest statement, the BRFC Action Group have provided full backing to a fan based takeover of the club, put forward by group director of the clubs principal sponsor, Wayne Wild.

The Action Group now have a newly elected committee, put forward by the supporters, to represent the group in all actions going forward. This committee has agreed a meeting with senior Blackburn Rovers board members on the day of the Aston Villa match, Saturday 3rd March as we seek clarification on the clubs current position.

The committee statement reiterates the motivation behind the group, and explains the future plans they wish to undertake to help the club move forward.

‘Blackburn Rovers has always been a family football club and a pillar of the community, the late Jack Walker and the football club put the town well and truly on the map and as supporters we were born into this family. What began as a campaign to remove a manager with one of the worst records in the clubs history has now become a campaign to ensure that future generations of our families can enjoy Blackburn Rovers like we have done since 1875. As a group of supporters we have given Venkys every reasonable opportunity to engage with the clubs supporters and stakeholders. Unfortunately, and despite our best efforts, the owners have remained silent as the clubs fortunes have taken a turn for the worse both on and off the pitch. Venkys have broken every promise they put forward when purchasing the club, ripping the heart out of a community and showing no remorse or understanding to the damage they have caused, to them this was a business opportunity but to the supporters it is a way of life. The BRFC Action Group is now actively supporting alternatives to Venkys and we will put all our efforts behind the supporter`s buyout initiative being led by Wayne Wild, as this is the only current alternative that is in the public domain and one which the Action Group is fully supportive of. This campaign will continue as we try to protect what is left of the late Jack Walker`s legacy and our town`s heritage.’ (The newly elected BRFC Action Group committee)

Strong words, spoken from the heart, which personally I fully agree with.
