Rovers new boy Scott Dann has set his sights high after signing for Rovers and is aiming to hit the England squad now he is back in the Premier League.

Dann made his £6 million move on deadline day and at that price is rightly considered to be something of a bargain given his age and nationality.

Scotty is in line for his very first Rovers start when Rovers travel to Fulham at the weekend and his first game will signal a return to the pitch after a long absence having not played for former club Birmingham since January.

Dann told the Lancashire Telegraph – ‘Obviously it`s an ambition of mine to play for England and hopefully I can do that in the future’

‘Hopefully coming to a club like Blackburn can help me do that.

‘I haven`t played much football lately because of all the things going on and all the speculation but I`m more determined than ever to play football.

‘I don`t think I`ve ever been more determined. I`m just looking forward to it and I can`t wait to get going.

‘Being injured is hard enough and then having to deal with being relegated, albeit I couldn`t really do much about that for the last couple of months being injured, you still feel part of it and it`s not a nice feeling.

‘To finally get back to the Premier League has been massive for me and I`m grateful to the gaffer for showing faith in me.’

One of the features of his move should be a potentially excellent centre back partnership with Congo’s Chris Samba and Dann views this as a bonus that nobody stepped in to sign him despite being widely tipped to leave the club this summer.

Dann added – ‘Chris Samba is a great defender and he`s been brilliant for the club. I`m looking forward to playing alongside him.

‘It`s good that he`s stayed here and no-one tried to sign him in the end.’
