Rovers local hero David Dunn thinks staying up this season can be seen as something of an achievement, in light of the mass change that’s taken place at Ewood Park this season.
Experienced players have been robbed from the Rovers ranks this season by a vicious Venky’s cost cutting drive and with the problems that have engulfed the club being a Premier League side come 2012-13 should go down as a success reckons Dunny.
Judging by his words, it’s evident the degree of care one of your own has for Blackburn Rovers.
Dunn told the Lancashire Telegraph – “It hurts a lot. Everything around it hurts me. There just seems to be unrest everywhere you look. But unfortunately that happens sometimes when things aren`t going well.
“I think there have probably been too many changes in a short space of time and I think any club that makes that many changes would be affected.
“That goes from at the training ground to down at Ewood. But we`ve got to keep going.
“I think winning the Worthington Cup was really good and the promotion season was great, and my England cap.
“But I do think that after everything we`ve had to put up with this year, and it`s been so frustrating for everyone involved with the club, it would be a great achievement to stay up.
“I`d be over the moon if we could get those points in the bag.”
“Basically, whoever goes down, deserves to go down, hopefully the big man upstairs can look down on us and keep us in the league.
“But it`s certainly not going to happen if we play like we did at Swansea.
“We`ve got to have a real good go and our application, first and foremost, has got to be the most important thing.
“Every single one of our players has got to go out there and give it everything. We`ve got to match the other teams for determination and willingness to grind out results and I think too many times this season, we haven`t done that.”
